Kimmel show live in Brooklyn this week

NEW YORK (WPVI) -- Jimmy Kimmel is back in Brooklyn, his birthplace, with a week full of shows jam packed with some of the biggest names from the Empire State: Billy Joel, Howard Stern, even David Letterman.

But as we've seen lately the late night talk show host is getting serious, using his platform to take on healthcare, gun control and the Oval Office. He admits it's all been more emotional than he expected.

"The tears I wasn't planning on," said Kimmel. "I have trouble keeping them in."

But he promises - this week - there will be laughs. Happy tears.
