An overnight Nor'easter didn't stop some parents in Bucks County who are dedicated to their children's education.

A group of parents camped outside during this weekend's Nor'easter, hoping to secure a spot for her children at School Lane Charter School in Bensalem.

"Good Samaritan across the street - he made us chicken soup. That was really nice. He brought a whole pot over," said Lisa Schmidt, parent.

Parents registered for the 2015-2016 school year for all grades, including the new high school.

The kindergarten has 125 spots open but school officials don't know yet exactly how many slots will be available in other grades.

"Charter school to me just seems like it's a better school than regular public school so I just want to give her the opportunity," said Felicia Page, parent.

"We give the chance for students to learn outside of the box. We don't do things the normal, rote memorization way," said Vince D'Andrea, principal.

"Most of the students here graduate and they are well behaved so I really want her to experience some of that," said Once Osuji, parent.

Some of the parents waited 20 hours to get a good ticket number, hoping it will give their child a better chance of getting in. It may sound crazy but they say it's worth it.

"As a father, I will do anything for my kids. And if I have to stay outside for 13 hours to get them into a good school to get a great education that's what I'll do," said Dan Hodum, parent.

"I think when I get older I'm looking for an international sort of job like the Air Force maybe, so I think it's good for that sort of stuff," said Felix Vazquez, applicant.

Siblings of current students are given first crack at any open slots, then Bensalem residents and then out of towers.

Parents may not find out until March if sitting in a snowstorm or picking up a ticket at the crack of dawn was enough to get their child a coveted slot at School Lane Charter.
