June 3, 2016 (WPVI) -- This year marks the Mann Center for the Performing Arts 40th anniversary season, and to celebrate, the summer concert venue will be hosting everything from Movies at the Mann to its iconic musical performances.

Mann Center President & CEO Catherine Cahill says The Philadelphia Orchestra will kick off the celebration with a performance on June 21st to highlight the Mann's opening season in 1976, "The Philadelphia Orchestra will be performing Beethoven's Leonore Overture and the Rachmaninoff beloved 2nd piano concerto with a dynamic superstar Daniel Hsu from the Curtis Institute of Music."

The month will feature a mash-up of artists set to please fans of all genres, "We are thrilled to have The Flight of the Conchords, Anthony Hamilton and Fantasia, Dolly Parton, Phish, Paul Simon," Cahill says, "And we keep expanding and adding more concerts so the summer is still young."

Movies at the Mann is back by popular demand, featuring the sights and sounds from Harry Potter &The Sorcerer's Stone played live with the Philadelphia Orchestra.

"Once you experience a movie with live orchestra you'll never go back to the theater again," says Cahill, who adds that The Mann has added charging stations and free Wi-Fi across the campus to make for a better concert-going experience, "We are very relevant to 21st century audiences. So we're looking at all the technological changes that audiences come to expect."

The Mann is taking the show on the road this season, as well.

"The Firebird the Spirit Rising festival is a 5-month community celebration where we are partnering with iconic institutions throughout the city," says Cahill, "We love to take the Mann out of the Mann. We want to make sure that Philadelphians know that we are accessible."
