Babies could be taught to speak sooner

Babies may be able to speak sooner than we think, and Rutgers University researchers have found a way to do it.

The scientists played videos for 4-month old infants, teaching them to recognize specific noises essential to speech.

By seven months brain scans showed that the language centers in their brains were stronger.

It's a small study, but the strategy might eventually work its way into toys and games that parents could use to help kids get a head start.
