Mom arrested after disciplining her kids in Louisiana

A Louisiana mother, who was arrested for the way she disciplined her children, is out of jail now that her story has gone national.

Schaquana Spears says she caught three of her six children coming home with items they stole from a neighbor's house, with their friends.

When her boys started running, Spears says she grabbed a cord off her dresser and started hitting them.

Deputies found out about the punishment after her eldest son was arrested for the break-in.

They arrested Spears for child cruelty.

"I have them in the best of schools. They are on the honor roll all throughout school. They're in magnet schools and they were just being kids, being followers. So I thought that I was showing them that this is not what you do. You don't steal people's stuff," said Spears.

Dozens of people offered to bail her out of jail and help get her children back.

Spears' case is now under review.
