North Philadelphia man celebrates 101 years of life

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A North Philadelphia man is celebrating 101 years of life Saturday.

James Washington is a World War II veteran who says he's seen a lot in his lifetime.

He says if you want to live a long happy life, there is one person in particular you should take advice from.

"My advice to them is listen to your grandma. It's the greatest thing I could tell them. Listen to grandma. Grandma's been through it. She knows," said Washington.

Washington's family claims he once dated 1950's and 60's soul singer Etta James.

He says he had many friends during his lifetime.
