What's the Deal: Free Philly summer fun
What's the Deal: Free Philly summer fun. Alicia Vitarelli reports during Action News at 4:30 p.m. on June 21, 2017.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- School's out and summer is here. New stats show that nearly half of Americans aren't taking a summer vacation for financial reasons.

But that doesn't mean summer fun is on hold. Our area has an abundance of free fun on tap all summer long.

Let's start with some fun for the grown-ups.

Many breweries offer free tours, including Yards Brewery on North Delaware Ave where you can see just how the suds are made in Philly. The free tour even includes a few free samples for those of legal drinking age!

Same goes for many wineries in our region.

With a wealth of museums in and around town, many offer free admission.

For instance, the Barnes Foundation offers free admission and programs on the first Sunday of every month.

From the fourth of July and beyond, there are free fireworks shows happening all summer long!

If you want to craft your own adventure, here are some fun ideas:

- Create your own walking tour of a city, complete with architectural to culinary gems and beyond.

- Plan a photo scavenger hunt with must-get shots around some of Philadelphia's most beautiful and historic sites.

- Host an outdoor movie night.

- Craftymorning.com says you can stargaze in your backyard. Just fill your blowup kiddie pool with pillows and blankets and grab the family.

And when all else fails, have the kids toss some of their own quick and easy tips into a boredom jar - leave it to Pinterest for that one!
