First responders have rescued a woman from the Delaware River at Penn's Landing in Philadelphia.

PENN'S LANDING (WPVI) -- First responders have rescued a woman from the Delaware River in Philadelphia.

It happened after 8:15 a.m. Thursday.

Police and firefighters were called to the river's edge along Penn's Landing at Delaware Avenue and Chestnut Street.

They arrived to find a woman in the water and were able to rescue her successfully.

She was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital.

There was no immediate word on the extent of her injuries or how she ended up in the water.

An investigation is underway.
