Designer crochets outrageous fashions from Afghan blankets

An Etsy shop owner from California has been making quite the fashion statement by designing crochet shorts from old recycled blankets.

The garments are the handy work of Schuyler Ellers, who runs the Lord von Schmitt Etsy shop.

He personally makes each one from a recycled Afghan blanket and crochets them into what he calls a wearable sculpture.

From form-fitting booty shorts to extravagant bell-bottom pants, they certainly make a statement.

And while not recommended for the office, Ellers thinks they're just perfect for a day after the ski slopes, or morning yoga in winter.
