Customers charged Philly beverage tax at Delco Wendy's. Alicia Vitarelli reports during Action News at 4 p.m. on August 8, 2017.

RIDLEY PARK, Pa. (WPVI) -- If you recently dined at the Wendy's restaurant in Ridley Park, and you ordered a soda, you might want to check your receipt.

Apparently, a software glitch caused the cash registers to add a beverage tax to customers' bills.

One has been making the rounds on social media where it reads .45 cents was added to the check.

The problem is that the surcharge should only be applied in the city of Philadelphia and this Wendy's is in Delaware County.

Action News heard from the representatives of the Ridley Park Wendy's on Tuesday. They say there was in fact an issue for several hours Monday.

They say a programming error caused the issue and it has been corrected.

To make good on the mistake, the chain is donating the funds to the local Boys and Girls Club.

If you have a receipt from the Ridley Park Wendy's with a beverage surcharge, they will give you a refund and a free drink.
