Andrea and Brian Polizzi quit the corporate world because of one sweet, crunchy and special bite in Belgium.

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (WPVI) -- They're husband and wife, business partners and now full-time bakers - "waffatiers", actually.

They met 20 years ago at Penn State, got married and joined the corporate world. She was a businesswoman. He was a microbiologist.

But Andrea and Brian Polizzi quit the corporate world because of one sweet, crunchy and special bite in Belgium.

"This has been a Euro sweet treat for centuries people grab it and walk around the streets in a wax sleeve. And when we got home we said, these need to happen! They need to come to the states," said Brian.

And these aren't just any waffles - they're Belgian Liege.

"It's actually the city in Belgium where the waffle originated," said Brian.

They saved up, started tinkering with recipes and Waffatopia was born.

"Its the waffle utopia! That's right," said Brian.

Today they hand make each and every one from scratch in a space in the artisan exchange in West Chester.

They import Belgian pearl sugar, which makes it all "lovely and delicious", according to Brian.

They offer an original waffle, but they also make one stuffed with Belgian chocolate and another orange pomegranate flavored.

But that's not all.

"We have teamed up in Downingtown with Victory and we make two beer waffle. You are welcome America," said Brian.

They also have a maple bacon waffle.

You can find Waffatopia at local farmers markets, some cafes and on their website, Waffatopia.com.

You can also find them at Green Aisle Grocery locations in Philadelphia. In fact, they were just featured on Food Network's new show, "Great American Food Finds", which is hosted by two Philly foodies.
