NOTTINGHAM, Pa. (WPVI) -- The Herr's Snack Factory Tour is a history lesson with good taste.

Crystal Messaros is a Herr's Snack Factory Manager.

She says Herr's produces a million bags of potato chips every day.

Crystal's grandfather, James Stauffer-Herr founded the Herr's potato chip company in 1949.

There are 9 third generation family members working in the business.

The Herr's Snack Factory was built in 1989 to give guests a behind-the-scenes look at the chip business.

"My grandfather always thought that when someone wanted to see the business he wanted to bring them in to show them," said Crystal.

More than a hundred thousand guests have toured the Nottingham, Pennsylvania facility. It's become so popular it was ranked as the top food factory tour in the USA.

"That's what makes us feel really special because our fans picked us to be number 1," adds Crystal.

And, plus people like to see where they're food is coming from.

"They do and that's the whole point. Come see how it's made and the best part is to taste the hot fresh potato chips right out of the cooker," says Crystal.

FYI Philly airs on Saturday night at 7:00 and midnight on Sunday on Channel 6.
