In a concept seemingly cooked up by a fever dream, fast food fans may be delighted to find that KFC's latest creation combines America's love for both hot dogs and fried chicken.

KFC, which describes the new menu item as "outrageously meaty," takes its own spin on the all-American sandwich: replacing the bun of a hot dog with a fried chicken patty, and a ribbon of melted cheese across the top.

According to the KFC Facebook page, only 50 Double Down Dogs are available per store, and only between Jan. 26 to 27. Within a few hours after stores opened Monday, KFC reported that they had already sold out.

American KFC fans may be disappointed to learn, however, that the limited edition sandwich is only available to select KFC stores in the Philippines, with no future plans to bring it to the United States.

Most users on Instagram and Twitter, however, did not welcome the new hot dog with an open mind. After non-promotional photos of the hot dog started circulating on the web, many voiced utter disgust.

Despite this, some loyal fast food fans are clamoring to make this sandwich available in the U.S.
