You've heard of farm to table, but one restaurant in Harleysville is taking it one step further - seed to table.

Growing season is under way at the Mainland Inn in Harleysville.

Seedlings were planted in January and everything from broccoli to kale is on the rise.

Head chef Ezra Duker relies on that growth to fill his menu.

"Not only do we have our own farm that produces the majority of our food, we also have a one acre garden right on property so we get to harvest our lettuces right before the dinner service," Duker said.

If you like healthy eating, it doesn't get any fresher.

"You're eating living foods, it tastes better and it's healthier, the nutrient content is better," Duker said.

The Inn is an extension of the Quarry Hill Farm, just over a mile away.

They provide many of the vegetables and humanely raised animals chef uses in the kitchen.

"I have an opportunity here to reconnect the diner, the guest, with their local farmers. It is a really wonderful thing," Duker said.
