CDC: One out of three adults has prediabetes
CDC: One out of three adults has prediabetes - Registered Nurse Ali Gorman reports during Action News at 5 p.m. on July 18, 2017.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- More than 100 million Americans are now living with diabetes or prediabetes, which is a precursor to the disease.

The CDC says there has been progress, but there are still way too many people living with the condition.

They say about one out of every three adults has prediabetes. And nine out of ten don't know they have it.

That's a concern because if you don't know you have it, then you're probably not doing anything to reverse it.

Eating healthier, getting exercise and losing weight are three things you can do to prevent prediabetes from turning into full-fledged diabetes.

If it turns into diabetes, you're at a greater risk for problems including heart disease, stroke, kidney failure and blindness.
