Choosing the right sports bra
Choosing the right sports bra. Ali Gorman, Registered Nurse reports during Action News at 5 p.m. on May 5, 2017.

If you are a runner and a woman, you know how important it is to find the right sports bra.

But with hundreds of brands and styles to choose from, it can get confusing.

There's tons of different sports bras available.

I met Theresa Toczylowski, a physical therapist with Moss Rehab at Modell's to talk sports bras.

For running, you'll probably want one for high impact.

Overall, there are three types.

"There is compression, encapsulated and then encapsulated, adjustable," said Theresa.

The first is your basic tank design, best for small chested ladies.

You are just compressing everything, basically, minimizing bounce.

Next, for larger busts, the encapsulated sports bra, "Is one where you have individual cups for each breast," added Theresa.

This is good for B to C cups or for C, D and larger, Theresa says the best is the third option- the encapsulated adjustable.

You can adjust the straps to perfectly fit your back.

If you are bust-heavy, go for larger straps to save your shoulders.

As for fit, try it on. And try it out then run in place.

"The most important way to figure out if the bra is the right fit, is that you don't notice it when you're working out," said Theresa.

Chelsea Ramsey tells us, finding the right bra and fit improved her running.

She said, "I didn't feel as weighted down, I felt comfortable."

Theresa says expect to spend $40 to $80 dollars on a sports bra. To make it last, treat it well.

"Wash it in cold water and always avoid the dryer because the dryer will break down the spandex," said Theresa.
