PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A drug used to prevent HIV transmission is reportedly working.

In a new study by Kaiser Permanente, more than 600 patients took the drug Truvada daily for about three years, and none have tested positive for HIV.

Researchers gave it to patients at high risk for the virus.

The drug was 100 percent effective, with no new HIV infections among people who took it.
