VIDEO: Screen time for kids
Experts say parents should strike a balance now to make sure screen time doesn't get out of control.

School's over for most kids. So it's easy for them to spend hours a day on video games, social media, and their favorite apps.

Experts say parents should strike a balance now to make sure screen time doesn't get out of control.

First, they say don't set time limits; it's not just a matter of time online, but what kids are looking at.

Because there are thousands of good educational apps to help maintain reading and math skills over the summer.

So experts say setting up media-free zones will work better than time limits.

And of course, try to keep kids busy - the more active they are, the less likely they'll be to reach for the screen.
