Philadelphia hospital patient tests negative for Ebola

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A patient at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania has tested negative for the Ebola virus.

The patient was admitted to the hospital overnight.

The person had recently returned to the United States from West Africa.

A thorough evaluation was performed in a special isolation room.

Friday afternoon doctors announced the test results were negative for Ebola.

The hospital says it started preparing for the possibility of caring for an Ebola patient several months ago.
