Man with gun escorted from hospital building in Center City

Police were called to the Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience at 9th and Walnut Streets. One man was arrested.

CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- A report of a man with a gun brought police to a Thomas Jefferson University Hospital building in Center City Philadelphia Wednesday morning.

It happened at after 10:30 a.m. at the Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience at 9th and Walnut Streets.

The hospital tells Action News a family was visiting a loved one in the building and hospital personnel discovered one of the family members was carrying a gun.

It turns out the man did have a permit, but the hospital has a no weapons policy and so police were called.

Officers investigated, then escorted the man off the property.

There was no word if charges would be filed.
