PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Dozens of people file into Franklin field every Friday morning, and before their workout gets started everyone is instructed to greet the person next to them with a hug.
After getting to know their neighbor, it's time to run the stadium - up and down.
November Project started in Boston as motivation to stay in shape during the cold winter months.
Suzanne Allaire and Dan Layo then brought it to Philadelphia. The group became official in January.
Layo explains, "We met at the Art Museum and started leading workouts. Early in the morning during the polar vortex people showed up, so we thought there was a need for this."
And as more people showed up, the movement became not just about fitness, but also about building a sense of community.
November Project members Drew Degen and Amy Gillespie explained their take on the unique workouts.
Degen tells us, "It's been a whole new crew that has opened up in the social circles of Philadelphia. I'm pretty stoked about that."
Gillespie says, "You can be standing there by yourself and not know a soul and within five minutes you've got five new best friends."
The workouts change every session, they last about an hour, and they are for all fitness levels.
"We try to challenge everybody with something but every workout we do will have a modification for someone who feels they can't do it," explains Suzanne Allaire, November Project Philadelphia co-founder.
Members say they're getting in better shape, but many admit they mainly come for the friendships... and a few sweaty hugs!
"We all hug each other - that's my favorite part," said Phil Cappa.
Kaitleen Gillis says, "Everyone is super positive every morning. It's absolutely the best way to start your day."
November Project is open to everyone. They have two free sessions per week - Wednesdays at the Art Museum steps and Fridays at Franklin Field. They start at 6:25 in the morning.
You don't have to sign up - just show up.
