Researchers: Never too early to read to your kids
Researchers: Never too early to read to your kids. Ali Gorman reports during Action News at 5 p.m. on July 24, 2017.

It's never too early to start reading to your children.

In fact, experts say reading to infants can help boost their vocabulary and reading skills later in life.

Research also found reading to toddlers is a good predictor of early literary skills.

The best books, especially for kids under the age of one, are ones that have an interactive, sensory component.

"They learn by developing all different types of senses, so if they can hear, see and touch, then that really helps them to understand the concepts that are being presented to them in the book," Dr. Kimberly Giuliano of the Cleveland Clinic said.

And regardless of age, Dr. Giliano says reading every day can help expand a child's attention span and also help them perform better at school.
