There's more proof that eating whole grains is good for you.

There's more proof that eating whole grains is good for you.

In fact, a new, small study shows it can help significantly lower your blood pressure.

The Cleveland Clinic followed 33 adults, all overweight or obese.

Half followed a diet with whole grains. The other half followed a similar diet, but with refined grains - meaning grains that were processed and lost a lot of fiber and other nutrients.

After 8 weeks, people on the whole grain diet saw a drop in their diastolic blood pressure, that's the bottom number, and it was enough to lower their risk for heart attack or stroke.

You still have to watch portion size, but as long as you don't have allergies when choosing bread or pasta or rice, it's best to look for one with whole grains.
