WARMINSTER, Pa. (WPVI) -- The search continues for a hit and run driver in Warminster, Bucks County.

A 44-year-old man was struck while trying to cross Street Road Tuesday night.

He's now fighting for his life at Abington Memorial Hospital.

"It's not surprising," said Charles Curtis, who works at Dick and Ripp's Exxon. "There's a lot of accidents in this intersection."

News of the pedestrian accident, though tragic, didn't come as a surprise to many.

"I'm not really surprised," said Al Sordoremos of Feasterville. "There's a lot of traffic out here. It's heavy and fast."

"I've heard about an accident right down the street a few months back with someone getting in front of a tractor trailer," said Rocco Maiorano of Warminster.

But this latest accident was more than just that.

Police say around 7:45 p.m. they found an Hispanic man critically injured and lying on Street Road near South Newtown Road.

They quickly learned the victim was hit by a car traveling east. The driver hadn't pulled over help.

"It's a shame that he left him there," said Christian Tomlinson of Bensalem. "I don't know how someone could do something like that."

Police say the striking car may be a newer model Hyundai Accent or Elantra with a missing mirror and damage on the driver side. It may also have a smashed windshield.

Investigators were counting on surveillance camera footage from several businesses in the area, but it turns out the street was out of view of the cameras.

They are hoping someone saw something and will come forward with information that will lead to arrest.
