VIDEO: Competetive axe throwing comes to Philadelphia
Urban Axes is gearing up to make history by opening the first US competitive axe throwing facility right here in Philadelphia.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Grab your viking horns, get your "Game of Thrones" on and channel your inner "Braveheart" because axe throwing is now happening in Philadelphia.

Urban Axes is gearing up to make history by opening the first US competitive axe throwing facility.

They say it's like darts only bigger and well, cooler.

It's all the rage in Canada and now Philadelphia is next on trend.

"People say safety is a real concern and yeah, we have a really strong safety and training program with our staff," said co-owner, Stuart Jones.

And the facility is even BYOB - just no hard alcohol.

But as Stuart mentioned there are serious rules and waivers.

Anyone who wants to wield an axe will be supervised by an ax-pert and all axes get locked away at the end of the night.

Urban Axes opens on East Boston Street in Kensington on September 13th.
