It's finally starting to feel like spring. So let's do some spring cleaning and make you some cash!
First, InStyle Magazine suggests when paring down your closet and de-cluttering, you need to do some soul searching.
Marie Kondo, the author of "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up," says there are a few key questions to ask yourself including:
- Am I keeping this just because?
- Do I want to see this again?
- Has this outlived its purpose?
Can't go at it alone? Hire a virtual organizer!
Book a Skype session with Geralin Thomas from Metropolitan Organizing and she will give you honest, unbiased advice on what to ditch, donate, or save.
It's not cheap, though. She charges $100 an hour.
Then, once you have earmarked the things you want out of your life, you can earn some money!
Liketwice.com is a new service that sends you a bag with prepaid postage to fill up with your gently used clothing and handbags.
They offer you a cash value and then can either donate the rest to Goodwill or return it to you for a $5 fee.
Finally, if you have things you want to keep but you don't want them cluttering your closet right now, consider Makespace.com/air! It's basically the cloud of closets.
For $25 a month you send them your stuff, they photograph it and keep it in a secure facility and then if you want something back, you can get it in just a few days.
