WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A reward is now on the table for information leading to an arrest in a school break-in.
Police say someone stole a number of iPads and computers from St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish Elementary School in West Philadelphia.
The break-in happened during the early morning hours of June 9th.
30 iPads, three Dell laptop computers, and three Macbook Pro computers were taken.
The culprit cut locks and chains to get to the gear that was used by students and faculty at the school.
The same students and faculty learned of the burglary on the last day of school before the summer break.
School principal Sister Owen Patricia tells us, "The last day of school was a downer for us. As we brought the children into church to give out awards and to wish them well, our hearts were heavy because of what we were dealing with."
The Fraternal Order of Police has stepped up and replaced 20 of the iPads already. They're asking other unions to pitch in, and they're accepting other contributions to have the school whole again by the start of school in September.
In addition, the FOP is offering a reward for information leading to the thieves.
FOP president John McNesby says, "We're here to help replenish that inventory and also pledge a $5,000 reward from our reward fund at the Fraternal Order of Police for the arrest of the person who did this."
And Lt. John Walker says, "We believe the iPads are somewhere in this community, probably sold for a very cheap price. People should probably turn them back in if they bought them."
