SOCIETY HILL (WPVI) -- It's been two years since a young man was gunned down after a night out with friends in Society Hill and up to $50,000 is being offered to help find his killer.

"The gun violence is just out of hand in this city," said Michael Hagan Sr., father.

Hagan and his wife, Carol, still can't believe their 32-year-old son, Michael, is gone.

"People think it gets easier with time, it really doesn't," said Hagan Sr.

On the weekend of July 1st, 2012, Michael was out with friends in Philadelphia's Society Hill section.

At about 3:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, he was headed home when he was robbed and shot on the 400 block of South 4th Street. He died at the hospital.

"Michael was a great guy, he didn't deserve to die like this," said Hagan Sr.

The Citizens Crime Commission is administering a $50,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

The New Jersey State Police NCO Union is putting up $5,000, the City of Philadelphia is putting up to $20,000 and another $25,000 is coming from various individuals.

"Knowing that this person is out there, this animal, how could he? To do something like this, it's just awful," said Carol.

"He's out there and people know, I'm sure he's talked," said Hagan Sr.

The Hagan's say the pain of losing Michael will never go away.

"There will never be closure, there will never be closure, justice will be served but there will never be closure for this," said Carol.

Anyone with information is urged to call 215-546-TIPS (8477). All calls will remain anonymous.
