Actor in coma after accidental hanging

PISA, Italy -- An Italian actor is in a coma after a hanging scene during a performance went horribly wrong.

Police say 27-year-old Raphael Schumacher was performing in an experimental production in Pisa.

A member of the audience noticed the rope around his neck was so tight, it was choking him.

The woman and another audience member rushed on stage to help the actor.

Schumacher was taken to the hospital where he remains in a coma.

Investigators want to know if proper safety procedures were in place before the performance.
