Firefighters thought they were simply putting out a house fire in Pleasantvile, Atlantic County. But when the smoke cleared, they found a man's body.
And police say the flames had nothing to do with his death.
Fire crews responded just after 3:00 a.m. Friday to the home on the 400 block of Doughty Road.
Once the fire was out a body was found inside.
Investigators think the fire was set intentionally.
Police reports show a history of domestic troubles at the home, and neighbors tell us there were shots fired in front of the home in the street last week.
At this hour there is no word on a cause.
The victim has not been identified.
