PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia police officer has been arrested after a domestic altercation in Upper Darby.

Officer Deric Lewis has been charged with Simple Assault and Harassment.

Police say Lewis was taken into custody on Monday.

They say he was involved in an off-duty altercation with a female.

When responding officers arrived on scene, Lewis did not comply with their requests to obtain his identification and continued in a disorderly manner.

Lewis, 35, is a 9-year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department, assigned to the 19th District.

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey suspended Lewis for thirty days with the intent to dismiss.
