A Nebraska couple is searching for answers after two of their rescue horses had their tails cut by thieves.
The Tompkins' were shocked Sunday morning when they checked on the horses and saw that their horse Blue and their miniature horse Rusty had their tails chopped off.
They looked online and found that horse hair can sell for $400 a pound.
The Tompkins' say it feels like their home was just robbed.
"Real anger, you know," Mr. Tompkins says. "It's the horse's only line of defense against flies, and the tails... to see them chopped off like this, it takes them so long to grow back."
Police and the Nebraska Humane Society are urging horse owners to be on guard because they have received other reports of missing tails from around the state.
