A Pennsylvania State trooper who was critically wounded in an ambush attack will be a local senator's guest of honor for President Obama's final State of the Union address.

Trooper Alex Douglass was critically wounded in September 2014, when Eric Frein allegedly ambushed the state police barracks in the Poconos.

The attack which killed State Trooper Corporal Bryon Dickson, launched a statewide manhunt.

Frein was tracked down and arrested nearly two months later.

Douglass was later awarded the Pennsylvania State Police's purple heart for his actions and bravery.

He will be the guest of Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey.
