Police are investigating an attempted robbery that left a man shot in Philadelphia's Kensington section.

KENSINGTON (WPVI) -- Police are investigating an attempted robbery that left a man shot in Philadelphia's Kensington section.

The incident occurred around 5:15 a.m. Saturday on the 600 block of East Allegheny Avenue.

According to police, the gunman and two others approached a 51-year-old man and demanded money.

The man was then shot once in the back by one of the suspects before they fled the scene.

The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical, but stable condition.

Police have made no arrests or recovered a weapon.

It is not clear if the suspects got any money from the victim.
