NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- New Castle County says the TAPS system is behind a drop in crime.

Chief Colonel E.M. Setting talked about how it's helping.

TAPS stands for Targeted Analytic Policing System.

It gives police better online mapping of crime hot spots.

They believe reducing quality of life crimes in those spots, in turn, reduces more serious crimes.

It appears they're right.

In the past three years, TAPS has reduced burglaries and robberies by 30 percent in the county.
