Fans said whoever is moved into the Eagles head coach position, the jury is still out until the team starts winning consecutively.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- It's all Eagles fans can talk about.

"Doug Pederson is like going into an ice cream store and ordering vanilla ice cream," said John Glanfield. "He's just there; he's not going to get the job done."

Sources say Doug Pederson, current offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs, is heading back to Philadelphia as the franchise's possible head coach after Chip Kelly was fired.

Fans didn't hold back Thursday night, sounding off on the airwaves of 97.5 The Fanatic.

"Fans for the most part are pretty upset. They're disappointed, not so much that it's Doug Pederson - the hiring process, it was sold like it would be something exhaustive, like they would really do their homework," said radio host Eytan Shander. "It seems like they had their guy from day one."

"Duce Staley, Pat Shurmur, that's not really looking outside the box to find a true candidate," said Paul Francesschi.

Pederson was a quarterback for 10 seasons including a season with the Eagles. He later spent four seasons as an offensive assistant under then head coach Andy Reid from 2009-2012.

"Why not one of his disciples, I mean who else?" said Todd Edwards.

Some fans say they welcome the news.

"He knows the city, so that's a plus," said Jason Skipworth. "I like Andy Reid's system."

But many remain skeptical.

"I don't know. I honestly could care less," said John Bradley.

Pederson has not been officially named head coach, but fans said whoever is moved into that post, the jury is still out until the team starts winning consecutively.
