PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) --Philadelphia police have released a sketch of the man wanted in the robbery and shooting of a 75-year-old woman on New Year's Eve.
In addition to the sketch, authorities have announced a $6,000 reward for information leading to the suspect's capture and conviction.
It was around 9:50 a.m. on Dec. 31, 2015, when officers responded to the 7100 block of Montague Street for a report of shots fired during a robbery.
They arrived to find a trail of blood leading to an alley between Erdrick and Montague streets. A short time later they found a 75-year-old woman who had been shot in the face.
The victim said she had been walking home from a supermarket when a silver or white Nissan Maxima pulled up beside her.
The driver reached out and tried to grab her purse, threatening to shoot her.
When the woman refused to give him the purse, the suspect shot her once in the face and drove away, dragging her for several feet.
He got away with the woman's purse, which contained $400 and her cell phone.
Police are looking for a Hispanic man in his late 20s with a trimmed beard. He was wearing a red knit cap and was armed with a handgun.
The car seen in surveillance video is described as 2004-2008 Nissan Maxima white or silver in color with a sky or moon roof and damage along the passenger side.
The Fraternal Order of Police is offering a $5,000 reward for the arrest of the suspect and the Citizens Crime Commission is offering a $1,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of this person.
