A two-hour standoff between police and a man who refused to release a 3-year-old boy has ended without incident in Delaware County.

It all began around 2 a.m. Saturday on the 1100 block of Montgomery Avenue in Collingdale, Pennsylvania.

Police responded to the home after a reported argument between a man and a woman.

The woman was able to get out of the house with three of her children.

Police found the woman and three small boys inside a white Toyota when they arrived.

She told police she left her home for safety reasons.

The man refused to release the 3-year-old, both still inside the home, which prompted her to call police.

The man identified as Christopher Lidstone, police say, has a history of substance abuse.

After two hours, the police ended the standoff by going inside.

Lidstone was taken into custody without incident.

The boy was not hurt during the standoff.

Police also found a number of guns in the house and a gun safe.

Lidstone was charged with endangering welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person.

His bail was set at $25,000.
