JENKINTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- Police have arrested Robert Ameen Young, Jr. for the alleged armed robbery of a Pet Valu store in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania.

The incident happened around 8:15 p.m. Friday at the store located at 1627 The Fairway.

Police say Young entered the store wearing a fluffy coat with his face concealed with a ski mask.

There were no customers in the store, and he was greeted by an employee.

The employee noticed a silver gun and that's when the suspect asked where the register was and demanded money.

Police say Young repeated several times, "don't do anything stupid!"

The employee opened the register and Young allegedly removed an undisclosed amount of cash and placed

it in his pocket.

He then quickly exited the store and the employee called the police.

The responding Abington police officer saw a green Cadillac occupied by one male driving through the Fairway Shopping Center parking lot.

The Officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but it fled at a high rate of speed through the parking lot towards the Walgreens Pharmacy.

The Cadillac abruptly stopped near the entrance to Walgreens and the male driving got out of the vehicle and put his hands up and started running.

A chase began and Young lost his footing, and the officer was able to take him into custody without further incident and without

any injuries.

Police say a search of the Cadillac revealed a loaded handgun and the stolen money.
