Mayor Kenney appoints Yolanda Wisher

CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- The city of Philadelphia has a new poet laureate.

Mayor Jim Kenney appointed Yolanda Wisher to the position.

As the city's third ever poet laureate, Wisher will attend community events, speak at different schools and serve as a mentor.

Wisher's poetry has earned her many accolades, and she is a 2015 Pew Fellow.
