High-tech cancer center

UNIVERSITY CITY (WPVI) -- A new medical center opened Tuesday night on Penn Medicine's campus in the University City section of Philadelphia.

Physicians and leaders from the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine cut the ribbon on the Novartis-Penn Center for Advanced Cellular Therapeutics.

The center will focus on personalized cellular therapies for cancer, which enables a patient's own immune cells to be reprogrammed outside of their body, and re-infused to destroy their tumors.
