Driver killed when pickup slams into tree in Vineland, N.J.

Police are investigating a fatal crash that shut down a busy highway in Vineland, Cumberland County.

It happened at 1:30 a.m. Thursday on N. Delsea Drive (Rt. 47) between Forest Grove Road and Arbor Ave.

Police say the driver of a 2007 Ford F150 lost control of the vehicle, crossing over into the northbound lanes before running off the roadway and striking a tree.

The driver, identified as Andrew Devecchis, 27, of 365 S. Brewster Road in Vineland, was pronounced dead at the scene.

There was no immediate word on what caused the driver to lose control.

Delsea Drive was shut down for more than five hours as police investigated.
