Firefighters rescue Wilmington couple from porch roof

WILMINGTON (WPVI) -- Wilmington firefighters rescued a couple from a burning home.

Flames ripped through the home on the 3000 block of North Van Buren Street around 3 a.m. Sunday.

Officials say the couple was screaming from the front porch roof.

Firefighters were able to beat back the flames and pull the couple down to safety.

Crews took them to Wilmington Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

A Wilmington firefighter injured his ankle fighting the fire.
