Officials: South Philadelphia fire due to basement appliance

A fire broke out in South Philadelphia. (WPVI)

Philadelphia firefighters battled a house fire in South Philadelphia.

Crews were responded to the 2600 block of Emily Street around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

Officials say a fire started out of an appliance in the basement of the home.

Firefighters quickly arrived and worked to contain the blaze.

One resident was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
