NEWARK, Del. (WPVI) -- There was a dress for everyone Sunday at the Fairy Godmothers of Delaware Prom Fair at the Hilton Wilmington/Christiana hotel in Newark, Delaware.

Deja Woodward modeled one of her favorite gowns - a deep blue, strapless number with just a little bit of sparkle.

"I at least liked three gowns from a huge selection for a really cheap price," said Deja, Appoquinimink High School student. "The cheapest I saw here was I think $10. And the highest I saw here was $25."

The prices weren't the only thing Deja liked.

"And we also get a fairy godmother to help us choose what we want," said Deja.

The "godmothers" helped the girls and their mothers comb through thousands of dresses - all under $50 - until they found the perfect one. Amber Gott chose bright colors to try on for her upcoming prom at John G. Leach School.

"It allows her the same experiences to look for a prom dress, and gives her the excitement of shopping on her own," said Karrie Gott of New Castle.

While the event has been providing donated dresses at a low cost to the girls for six years, organizers say this year is different and more important than ever.

"Unfortunately the Philadelphia chapter and the Reading chapter have closed, so we expect a very big turnout today. Much larger than our previous years," said Bonny Lynch, Fairy Godmothers of Delaware.

The turnout was big and so were the smiles from young ladies and their mothers.

"I'm a single mom, and it really just helped me as a mom to get a wonderful dress for my daughter," said Shereen Williams Deja's Mom.
