NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) --A man from Delaware has the freedom to drive around again thanks to the generosity of a business in Newark.
Harold Hewett checked out the four brand new tires on his truck Wednesday morning.
Hewett, who is on a fixed income, was the victim of tire vandals last month in his New Castle neighborhood.
The owner of Rhino Linings of Delaware heard his story and felt compelled to help.
"You know, you can't cure everything and you can't help everybody," said owner Guy Campbell. "But if small businesses and people get involved, it can lift one person's spirits and that can carry on."
"It meant a lot to me," Hewett told Action News, "because my truck would still be parked with four flat tires."
Police say 17 cars were damaged in that tire slashing spree in New Castle on February 26th.
A group of teens is believed responsible. There have been no arrests.
Anyone with information about the crime or suspects is being asked to call New Castle Police at 302-322-9800.
