MIDDLETOWN, Del. (WPVI) -- A 17-year-old boy was killed and four others were injured, one critically, after a truck and tractor trailer collided in Middletown, Delaware.

Salesianum School identified the deceased Saturday as senior Tyler Brown.

It happened around 11:33 p.m. Friday along Route 301 at Strawberry Lane.

Police say a 2005 Dodge Dakota, operated by 18-year-old John W. Kirsch, was traveling eastbound when it was pulled into the path of a tractor trailer, operated by 52-year-old Julio Gallegos.

The impact knocked the tractor trailer onto its side and spun the pickup truck around several times.

Brown, the front passenger in the pickup, was rushed to Christiana Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

A 17 year-old-girl, identified as Padua Academy senior Kelly Muschiatti, who was riding in the backseat, was treated on the scene for head and facial injuries. She was then flown to Christiana Hospital where she is listed in critical condition.

Kirsch, also a senior at Salesianum School, was treated on the scene for a chest injury, possible head injury and upper body injury, and then taken to Christiana Hospital in serious condition.

Gallegos and his passenger, 30-year-old Carolina Garcia, were also taken to Christiana Hospital with serious injuries. Their conditions are unknown.

Police are investigating.
