Fire Prevention Essay Winner

HOLMESBURG (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia middle schooler got a big honor Thursday from Fire Commissioner Derrick Sawyer.

Abby McCaffrey, a sixth grader at J.H. Brown Elementary in Holmesburg, won the fire department's fire prevention essay contest.

She beat out other entries from students across the city.

Commissioner Sawyer paid a special visit to Abby's school to speak about the importance of fire safety, and to present her with the award in person.
