Convicted killer escapes from Ohio prison

NELSONVILLE, Ohio (WPVI) -- The search is on for a convicted killer who escaped from an Ohio prison.

John Modie was absent during an inmate count late Sunday night at the Southeastern Correctional Complex in Nelsonville.

The 58-year-old inmate had been serving time for killing a woman in Cleveland.

Officials are now warning residents to be on the lookout.

They also cancelled morning classes at a nearby college campus as a precaution.
