Police releases surveillance video of a man using a rifle in a Germantown shooting.

GERMANTOWN (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police released surveillance video on Monday showing a gunman using a rifle on a Germantown street.

The shooting happened just before 1 a.m. Thursday in the 5600 block of Chew Avenue.

Investigators say that's when the victim, a 47-year-old man, was approached by the gunman.

The suspect then opened fire, shooting the victim several times, including two gunshot wounds to his torso.

The man with the rifle then got into the passenger side of a car and got away.

The victim was last reported to be in critical condition.

The fleeing vehicle was described as a dark-colored, newer model sedan and appeared to have an out-of-state or vanity license plate on the front.
